This is my 31st year serving as a public school missionary. What a joy to start another year of Bible Adventure classes! Another year of sharing the love of Jesus with students. Another year of mentoring students in their Christian walk. I have seen so many lives transformed. Recently, I attended back to school night at a local elementary school, with the hope of connecting with students and inviting them to join Bible Adventure.
One 4th grader came running to me and initiated a hug, happy to see me. I asked to meet her Mom. She told me Mom was working. She and her sisters came to back to school night alone; no caring adult to show interest. This little girl greets me in the hall each week, grabs my hand and walks with me to the bus. She is hungry for love. Last year, she began a relationship with Jesus at Bible Adventure. We continue to disciple her. Over the summer, she attended a week of camp at Joy El, where she grew spiritually.
Our ministry makes a lasting impact, week after week, year after year, generation to generation. Where else can you see over 1,200 volunteers sharing Jesus with public school students each week? It is a delight to look at a student and recognize that I had their parents as students in Bible Adventure when they were young.
John 4:35b says, “…open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” Is God calling you to participate in bringing in his harvest?
