Jean was more than a faithful volunteer—she was a vessel God used to reach young hearts with His Word. Through her years of service with Bible Adventure, she touched lives as a school coordinator, a prayer warrior, and a dedicated bus driver. Her love for Scripture and the students she served shaped everything she did—and even in her final days, that love remained strong.
In her last moments on earth, Jean’s heart and mind were still wrapped in ministry. Though her words were faint and communication was difficult, her spirit was clear. Her family shared with us a moving moment: she reached out with an imaginary object in her hand, urging someone to take it. Her daughter received the invisible item, and Jean struggled to say, “Give the black book to the boy.” The black book, of course, was the Bible. Jean’s life had been dedicated to helping children earn their New Testaments and learn to treasure God’s Word through weekly sword drills—racing to look up Scripture and hide it in their hearts.
Even as her earthly journey neared its end, Jean’s thoughts drifted to Bible Adventure. In her mind, she was late for the bus that was going to pick up the students. Her family gently reassured her, saying, “Mom, you know you’re always running late. They went to get the students. They’ll be back.” With that, Jean was at peace.
Jean’s legacy goes far beyond her final days. In her prime years of service, she led a vibrant Bible Adventure program, beginning each session by gathering prayer requests from the children. By the end of class, she would copy the list and hand it out to every student and volunteer—an invitation to keep praying all week long. She believed in the power of prayer and wanted everyone, even the youngest, to share in it.
As she transitioned into a new role, Jean took the wheel—literally—becoming a Bible Adventure bus driver. She continued serving with love and vigilance, staying on the bus while the children were in class. From her seat, she would watch through the window. One week, when she noticed a child misbehaving, she gave a quick honk of the horn to signal a volunteer to step in. She never stopped caring, never stopped watching, never stopped loving.
At her funeral, a Bible Adventure bus was parked in her honor—a powerful reminder of her dedication and the countless miles she drove to help children hear the Good News.
Jean’s life reminds us that God uses faithful hearts in every season. Her story is one of steadfast love, quiet strength, and unshakable commitment to the mission of sharing His Word. Though she’s no longer with us, the seeds she planted continue to grow—and the bus, in many ways, still rolls on.
