A couple months ago, we visited a local college to recruit students for summer camp. While there, we met a really enthusiastic young man named *Steven. Steven was one of the most excited people I’ve ever encountered at a school visit. Normally, we spend time explaining why camp is such a great experience—but Steven didn’t need convincing. From the moment he saw the sign, he was ready to jump in.
After a few conversations and an interview, we offered him a spot on our maintenance team for the summer. When we sent his employment agreement, we let him know we’d honor his one planned vacation week.
But when he sent the agreement back, we noticed he hadn’t included that time off. Just to make sure it wasn’t a mistake, we gave him a call—and his response blew us away.
Steven said he’d decided that his trip to Las Vegas wasn’t as important as serving Christ at camp. He told us that (In his words) “whatever Sin City had to offer didn’t compare to what he hoped to experience here this summer”.
That’s the kind of heart we love to see—and we’re so excited to have Steven (and all of the dedicated summer staff) on the team!
