Darryl Mellott

Maintenance Coordinator

Darryl had already been feeling a nudge from the Lord for some time now on the day he and his wife found themselves at Joy El for a day. While sitting on the hex swings together, his wife asked, “what if you worked here and we lived here?” From there God continued to make it clear to Darryl and his family that the Lord was calling them to change their current path and serve at Joy El.

Darryl served in the military for 8 years and has received his Associates degree from Wilson College. Darryl has a passion for mechanics and construction, things that go hand in hand with his role as Maintenance Coordinator. He’s excited to be a part of the bigger vision at Joy El, as he leads in ensuring that facilities are ready for guests and campers to be on site and experience life-change.

Darryl enjoys woodworking, mechanics, driving and working on cars, being outdoors, and helping with the youth group at his church. A scripture passage that is meaningful to him is Hebrews 11:9-10 “By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” Especially as Darryl and his family were led into a new season of life, these verses were reminders of Abraham’s example of great faith in God, who is capable to lead us and requires only our obedience and dependance on Him.
