Nic Goodwin

4.12 Coordinator

Nic first became involved with Joy El through a friend inviting him to work as a senior counselor during summer 2024. Throughout that summer and some weekends, he worked with campers of all ages and also had opportunities to work in the kitchen as an assistant cook. He’s particularly excited to be able to work with the 4.12 students beyond the summer in his current role on staff.

Nic is currently enrolled at Hagerstown Community College, with intent to transfer to Shippensburg University in Spring ’25 to acquire a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He currently lives in Smithsburg, MD with his parents and brothers. Before residing in Maryland, Nic was born in Wisconsin and spent substantial time growing up in Colorado. When not at work, he enjoys to go rock climbing and researching Theology. He also enjoys painting and ran a painting business.

A passage of scripture that’s meaningful to Nic is 2 Corinthians 12:7-10: “So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
