Bible Adventure landed on Valentine’s Day. I wanted to share John 3:16 and remind the students of God’s love. I saw a church sign that read, “The shape of love isn’t a heart or a diamond. It is the cross.
So, on the half-mile bus ride to the church, I shared the message from the sign. The students filed into class and one student said, “what about the cross”? I stopped in my tracks. Then said, “who can tell him about the cross”? Another student answered, “Jesus died on the cross.” The conversation was off and running. My lesson was taking a different path. The Holy Spirit took over and I was just the mouthpiece. Questions were coming from many students, faster than I could answer. “Why?” “Who put him on the cross?” “How did he stay there?
Bibles were opened and students read John 14:1-6. “How do we know Jesus is going to come back and take us to heaven?” “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” We talked about John 3:16, and Romans 10:9-10. “Wait, how do I get Jesus to forgive me?”
Students prayed the prayer of repentance and began a relationship with Jesus. God worked mightily in a 15-minute class. The angels in heaven rejoiced as twenty-five students prayed and began a relationship with Jesus. Tears of joy filled my eyes. God continues to change hearts. Pray as discipleship begins.
