By Aaron E. Ziebarth, Executive Director
Would you be able to call me really quickly?
Just last week, I received those words in a text from one of our collegiate summer staff members.
I was in the midst of several things, but the text was urgent enough that I made it an immediate priority and gave him a call.
โHi Sam, this is Aaron. You wanted me to call. Whatโs up?โ
What he said was not what I expected.
โI am so thankful for the scripture memory that I learned at Joy El! It is like I have big sword with me where ever I go. I learned how to get in the Word and prayer in the morning, I am so thankful that I learned that at camp.
โOften I am in Bible studies and they preach about the sovereignty of God, but there is no equipping.ย ย I feel like I have a huge weapon in Godโs word, itโs like Iโm driving a tank against the enemy. I am so thankful for the equipping I got at summer campโ
I couldnโt agree more. Godโs word is powerful (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16, Psalm 119:89, Jeremiah 20:9; Joshua 1:8).ย I am excited to see that Sam is using what we taught him while serving as a counselor (for two summers) and as the Adventure Village coordinator this past summer. It is core to a Joy El experience Five Years in the Making.
