Each year, themes are carefully prayed over the for summer camp and retreats with the desire to provide opportunities for life change in the campers. We know that these themes influence staff as much as campers.
As told to me by the Female Jr. Staff Coordinator:
What I love the most about my job as Female Jr. Staff Coordinator is that I learn so much through the girls I get the privilege of mentoring. God has revealed Himself to me through their actions and words! I have seen God work through many of the girls this summer but one in particular sticks out because she really leaned into the theme of this summer.
“I know God will give me strength to continue.” Seeing this girl come back week after week, even working the weekend in between, I know she’s feeling tired and drained. But yet she rejoiced, “I am going to live in the joy of the Lord this week!” Hearing her continue to trust that the Lord would work through her and seeing that her confidence was in Him because she knows He is sufficient, was so encouraging. “When I am weak, that is when He shines through the strongest.” It is so inspiring to hear that in the midst of her hardships she continued to seek the Lord through it and didn’t let that get in the way of ministering to her campers. The summer theme is not just for the campers but for the staff as well and seeing that get through to them is a beautiful sight!
