Our 2020-2021 theme for Bible Adventure is “On Purpose”, based on Exodus 9:16. What is the purpose of Bible Adventure? Our mission? “Providing opportunities for people to experience life-change through personal encounters with God.”
Recently, I had a conversation with a longtime volunteer/fan of Joy El at our Volunteer Leadership Training. (See more about volunteering for us.) She loves our program and goes above and beyond to make sure we have everything we need to lead successful meetings. She shared why Joy El is so important to her.
She told me, “My son was in third grade when he came home from school with information to attend Released Time, (now Bible Adventure). I called the phone number on the form and the coordinator stopped by my house and answered my questions. I signed the permission form and sent it back. He got involved as a student and I became involved as a volunteer (now 26 years) with the support of my husband.”
That was many years ago and look where we are now. The son who brought the form home now has his family in church. Another son served as a counselor at Joy El and leads worship at church. A daughter volunteered with CIA (Christians in Action) and her children are walking with the LORD. An entire family was impacted by one invitation to attend Bible Adventure.
God’s Word provides the following truths. Psalm 78:4&6, “We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done…so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.”
