I look forward to visiting Released Time classes. It really is one of the highlights of my role. So often I see children very excited to learn about the Lord, and volunteers who are just as excited to show the love of Jesus to these children.
Recently I visited a Released Time that was overflowing with warm affection and energy. No one even cared that it was only 53 degrees inside that day (as the church heat wasn’t working). God is bringing 84 children to this Released Time program during three different shifts. You will be amazed to learn that they began the year with only eight registered children!
At the beginning of the year, a few forms were received over the next few days. And then the teacher and his daughter received permission to distribute permission forms on the school sidewalk. Soon the number in attendance increased to 51. Shortly after, the children caught the passion, and they began inviting their friends. Soon classrooms in the school building will be empty. There are only 51 children remaining at school during this time of learning about Jesus. Let’s pray that all the school children arrive.
The teacher, a 36-year Released Time teaching veteran, has a warm heart for the students. He is often seen at their ball games and other school activities. His daughter, who serves as his “ears” when he teaches, takes time from her full-time job to minister to these children.
When I thanked him for his ministry, he paused, looked deep into my eyes and told me, “It is truly my pleasure.” I believe him.
If you are wondering why I haven’t mentioned his name, it is because he prefers it that way. He wants the Lord to receive the glory.
