Worried glances, long good-byes (usually from the mom), waving to parents until they are out of sight, nervous energy seen in each bus rider-this is the bus experience when we meet and pick up the campers to take them to camp for the week.
Coordinating the bus to take children from York and the surrounding areas is a group effort. We need a driver, another adult to chaperone, and lots of coordinating communication with the camp staff to ensure all paperwork is complete and that drop off goes smoothly. In preparation for the bus, it also needs to be promoted well and information provided to families to make them aware of the availability. This year, I was told by a parent how thankful they were for the bus. She wasn’t sure she would be able to send her children to camp due to the high gas prices. This is why it is so important to make this effort every summer. Here is another reason we do it:
Noisy chatter, loud singing, smiles for miles and excited energy bursting from young people who just spent a week at summer camp experiencing God and life-change in a different way.
We have a few more weeks of camp left! Register Here.
