Remembering Reba Miller (1921-2015)
Reba Miller was a part of Joy El Ministries from 1944 to 1967. She served as the “Bible Lady” until 1965 when it became illegal to have religious instruction inside public schools. At that time, not wanting children to miss out on hearing about God, Reba continued to go from school to school but read “Pilgrim’s Progress” to the children instead of the Bible. The children would follow her out to the parking lot where they would recite their Bible verses to her at Reba’s car. During a time period where other ministries looked at this new law as a road block, God used Reba to keep the ministry going. She was very instrumental in making the ministry what it is today!
Reba passed away on April 1st of this year. She was 94 years old. She was faithful to the Lord until the end and used every opportunity, even in her retirement years, to evangelize those around her. She had a tremendous passion to add new believers to God’s Kingdom. The impact of her ministry cannot even be measured because she touched the lives of so many children and adults alike!
The staff fondly remembers how Reba would always position her desk chair, conference room chair or dining room chair to make sure she had every opportunity to talk to those who passed by! In her memory, we have decided to dedicate the project of replacing our dining room chairs to her honor. If you would like to purchase a chair in Reba’s memory, the cost is $35 per chair or $280 for a table full of chairs (8). You may send a check earmarked “Reba’s Chairs” or donate online by clicking HERE. Please select the “Memorial Gift” option.
Please prayerfully consider a gift today. Summer camp starts soon and we would like all campers to experience these new dining hall chairs!
