Do you know what it is to be a resilient disciple? Or how to make a resilient disciple? It has to do with building fearless faith. This has been the focus of our trainings for the past two years. During our most recent Equipping Coordinator training, we watched a podcast on “Reaching the Least and the Lost” from AWANA’s resilient discipleship training. It spoke on the value of children’s ministries who train children to be life-long followers of Christ.
Enabling children to move through the chaos of the world in which we live, with their faith intact, not just surviving the chaos, but being used by God to become champions in and for the Kingdom of God. Our desire is to have our Bible Adventure and CIA classes filled with volunteers and students who are engaged and inspired – not just entertained. I was moved by the speaker who said, “We want our children to become champions in the Kingdom of God. We want to challenge them and give them a cause.”
This kind of teaching is done in a relational context each week in our classes. The Bible Adventure and CIA theme this year is “Fearless Faith.” God has called us to a special role of mentoring students in their faith. Valerie Bell, the former CEO of AWANA International, an award winning author of Resilient: Child Discipleship and the Fearless Future of the Church, global children’s activist and speaker will be the keynote speaker at our Kick Off Rally. I want to personally invite you to come and bring a friend to our Kick Off Rallies this year. Valerie will equip each one of us to be more effective in our ministry of developing resilient faith in the lives of those we serve.
