God’s Word-Year-Round Impact
Each year I am amazed at the growth I see in our Bible Adventure and CIA students as they attend Summer Camp! Some of our students came to camp for the first time this summer! Hearing them recite their verses and watching them caught up in worship here at Joy El was inspiring to me.
One of the core values for Joy El is Bible-Based. God’s Word as deserving our life-long personal meditation and memorization. It is expected that staff will challenge other staff members to recite the verse or verses they are currently learning.
While teaching a children’s day program, the teacher began quoting John 14:6. A third grader who attended Bible Adventure continued reciting the verse. The teacher stopped and allowed him to finish the verse. At the teacher’s request, he stood up, faced the adults in the congregation and recited it again.
On another occasion, a fourth-grade student came up to a camp staff person six weeks after attending a week of summer camp and eagerly began reciting the daily verses she had learned at camp along with the motions to help them stick.
So, are you memorizing verses. Are you willing to accept the challenge to hide God’s Word in your heart? Age doesn’t matter. Perseverance will bring victory. Keep working at memorizing and sharing God’s Truth.
Psalm 119:11- I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
