Summer camp can be difficult for some children, being removed from ones comfort zone can cause a bit of disequilibrium. For that same reason, summer camp is an excellent opportunity for children to push through the discomfort and grow in a safe environment.
Last week God used Jazmine, our female head counselor, to help a camper grow to new levels. Her letter says it all:
Dear Jazmine,
Thank you for everything that you’ve done to comfort me and also my friends. I am going to call you my favorite gold tag counselor. I love you so so much! I am looking forward to coming back . . . ! Thank you! You taught me to be a big girl and also have fun.
Sunday’s verse: Colossians 2:7 “I think” Rooted and built up in him, strengthened and overflowing with thankfulness. “Am I right?”
Session after session, God uses His people to encourage and help campers grow in so many ways. “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit– fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name” (John 15:16).
Did you attend summer camp as a child? How did God use your experiences to help you grow?
