“Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation.” Many of us think of “the world” as somewhere far away. Actually, “the world” that needs the gospel is also our community.
I was serving at a conference where two young girls were playing with little dolls. Their dolls’ conversations were reflective of life and the fact that they had older sisters. Sadly, one conversation went against what the Bible teaches. I stopped the girls and shared biblical truth. The five year old argued that it was ok because people do it. I explained that the Bible is all true and we need to obey it. Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your Word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Where does faulty thinking come from? Families, child care providers, teachers, media, and sports personalities all play a part in forming a child. We need to be intentional in sharing the truth.
We have the message found in John 14:6, where Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Bible Adventure provides a wonderful place for us to share the Bible with school age students. We have one hour a week to counter the standards the world gives. Let’s follow the directions given in Ephesians 5:15-16. “Be very careful, then, how you live- not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
Bible Adventure is not the only place where you can share the Good News of the Gospel, but it is a great opportunity. You can also officially or unofficially mentor a neighbor, co-worker, store employee… Where is God calling you to “preach the Gospel”?
A new year of ministry is about to begin. Is God calling you to be a missionary and “preach the Gospel”. Children in our public schools need you.
