Despite the snowy backdrop, we are already getting ready for summer here at Joy El! During this season I spend a lot of my time on the phone with parents telling them about camp and helping register their kids for the fun we have planned this summer. I am often encouraged by the stories parents will share with me during these calls and would like to share that encouragement with you now!
The first story is from a mother who reports that her child asks everyday how many more days there are until camp starts again. How wonderful is that?! I love their enthusiasm and pray that they remember all they’ve learned and experienced here each time they think about coming back.
Another mother, who was signing her young son up for a second year at Day Camp shared with me that when she told her son he would be returning to camp, he responded with a question:
“Mom, do you know what I did at camp last summer? I began a relationship with Jesus!”
Wow. Six months later and this little boy remembers the most important decision he will ever make happening right here amidst all the fun of camp!
This is the heart of why we hold summer camps, weekend retreats, Bible Adventure and CIA:
Children are hungry for the Hope of Jesus!
Summer is on its way and as the excitement builds, I am so eager to see what decisions children will make this year and how their lives will be changed as a result.
