In my role for the Bible Adventure and Christians In Action programs here at Joy El, I have seen God move as I receive the reports sharing how many students began a relationship with Jesus and how many have earned a free week of summer camp. Free camp is the biggest award they can earn because we understand the value of a week at Christian camp in the life of a child.
Over the past 2 ½ months, we have seen many reports of children beginning a relationship with Jesus. It turns out that most of these students gave their hearts to Christ in the last three weeks before schools eventually closed in mid-March! These students responded after hearing about the Gospel in the lessons during Bible Adventure programs as the Easter season was approaching.
During the week of March 4-11 alone, we received reports of 23 students who began a relationship with Christ, and 17 of them were from only 2 area programs! What timing it was then, to be able to be a part of ministering to, and following up with, these students by reaching out in ways not done before, via Zoom meetings, YouTube videos (check out our website for Bible Adventure video lessons and CIA video lessons), and Facebook Live events. God’s timing is perfect.
Serving in my role allowed me to see the results of the many students that have also been working hard since mid-March to memorize their Bible verses and to earn free camp within the last month. Hearing of the excitement of students and the Equipping Coordinators of each program as they were keeping tabs of who was close, so they could follow up during these unprecedented times, has been very encouraging. We hope to see each and every child that has earned their free week of Christian summer camp here at Joy El! So far this year, we have 110 students who have earned free camp!
It is very rewarding being able to equip and support our volunteers as they minister to students in Bible Adventure and CIA! I am grateful for all that God continues to do in us and through us to reach public school students with the hope of Jesus and life change!
