Danielle, a 3rd grader in Joy El’s Bible Adventure West Virginia program, was a new student this fall. On first meeting her, volunteers could tell she was very shy and timid, and according to her enrollment form, she was not affiliated with any church.
She enjoyed her first Bible lesson, and while hearing the creation story, she seemed enthralled with it. The teacher showed the children very beautiful pictures as the lesson was taught. Afterward, Danielle said to her listener, “I’ve never heard the creation story before. That’s the first time.” The listener continued to talk to her about the lesson and creation, sharing how we can live with Jesus in heaven someday if we ask Him into our hearts. The girl responded that it made her happy to know she could live in heaven someday.
Danielle’s story and her spiritual journey is just unfolding. Learning about faith in Jesus is brand new to her. It’s unknown if anyone invited Danielle to Bible Adventure, but we do know her mother signed her up through a paper permission form passed out at school. She attends faithfully every week and listens intently. Danielle has not yet begun her relationship with Jesus, but God is in the process of awakening her to His truth.
Please pray with us that Danielle will take that next big step to begin a relationship with Jesus. And also pray with us over those school districts that have restricted the passing out of paper permission forms. We know that a physical form in the child’s hand is highly effective in getting them to enroll.
