For years I have seen the great value of summer camp–both for those who attend and for those who serve.
Recently Juan, one of our summer staff members and a graduate of the 4.12 Leadership Training Program, stopped by Joy El for lunch. It was a great time to talk and get reconnected. Juan is currently a student at Liberty University. He told me about his class schedule and then specifically told me how Joy El helped prepare him for college and for relational ministry.
“What was really helpful for me in college… we have this evangelism class final project that we have to do,” Juan began. “And we have to have one-on-ones per se with three people on campus who are not believers. And it really helped because I had so much practice here in the 4.12 program. And it made it real smooth talking with people I don’t even know and trying to get them to become believers through the Romans Road. And showing them all through the Gospel and showing them all that God has done for them; it was pretty amazing that I knew. I was like, ‘I can do this. This is totally me. I can totally do this!’ And it was great, and my paper was 100%.”
I’m so excited to see how attending summer camp at Joy El, and then serving on staff not only provides a great experience, but it equips people like Juan for future ministry in every area of life.
And this is what we were created for. “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).
Now is the time to register for summer camp. You will get the best discounts when you register by January 31st.
