The greatest privilege of my job is seeing how the words I say to the counselors I mentor impact not only the counselors, but the campers who are under them.
There is a model for sharing the gospel called the three circles. I have this model on the back of my phone case. One day, while sitting in a one on one, a counselor asked me what was on the back of my phone. I told her it was the three circles and explained to her how to share the gospel using this method. She was pretty excited about it. Later on, I walked by and she was sharing the gospel with one of her campers using the three circles! This warmed my heart. When I came around to check on her cabin at bedtime, she told me she needed to tell me something. The counselor said that she had used the three circles to share the gospel with not one, but two campers! Both campers started a relationship with Jesus after this.
I am so thankful for the chance to individually pour into the counselors that are here. Seeing them grow in their walk with the Lord is truly amazing.
I have had the honor of working at camp Joy el for multiple summers in multiple different roles. Because of this, I see campers come back year after year. Last year, I had a camper on wilderness camp who was not the best behaved. This camper was a complainer, grumpy, and not willing to help out. We prayed for him all week and shared the gospel with him, but nothing seemed to change.
This year, I saw this camper come back to camp! I was so excited that he was here for another year. He seemed to be having a positive week. On Thursday night at campfire, he stood up and shared that before this week he was not a part of Gods family. During the week, he had started a relationship with Jesus. He was excited to share that he was now a part of Gods family! I was so happy and excited for him. Some of the best news is that he is coming back to camp for another week this summer!
The Lord is certainly at work here!
