Students exhibit a variety of learning styles and we want to reach each one with the Gospel, so our Bible Adventure teachers use different approaches to present Biblical truths. Bible Adventure is one of the ministries of Joy El, a Christian retreat center in Pennsylvania.
One teacher chose to present the biblical Christmas message through a Mary monologue in a dimly lit room. As the teacher presented the monologue, a third grade student, with a difficult family history, slid from her chair onto the floor and gazed into “Mary’s” face. An adult in the room was about to ask her to move to her seat but realized no one else seemed to notice. Class ended and this student stayed behind to ask the teacher to help her begin a relationship with Jesus.
After praying to begin a relationship with Jesus, I watched this girl bounce into the room where her listener was waiting for her. As she neared the table she blurted, “I have something to tell you. I just asked God into my life.” My heart rejoiced with this little girl.
On the way back to school this student told everyone on the bus that she was going to heaven. She also informed everyone that the teacher told her if she did wrong things she could ask God to forgive her for those things too. The smile on her face was priceless.
Life-change is the reason we do what we do!
