Today I was scheduled to visit Nancy Grayson Released Time in Shippensburg. Earlier in the week, Mihui, the school coordinator, called and said that since there were no awards earned yet, I didn’t need to come…tempting, but I told her I would come and share with the boys and girls and connect with the staff anyway.
When I got there, Mihui asked if I would be willing to share with any children the plan of salvation during listening time if there was any interest. Today was Invite-a-Friend-Day, there were 3 new students, 2 are staying for the remainder of the school year, and one came for the day.
After the lesson was presented by Julie the teacher, she talked to them about beginning a relationship with Jesus. She had them close their eyes and talked to them about this decision in a very understandable way. It seemed that a good number had prayed along with her. We sang Happy Birthday and told them that there was much rejoicing going on in heaven.
Instead of doing listening time, we handed out the ABCD cards, covered the information on them, and then the listeners took time to talk and pray with their children.
After we closed in prayer and the children left, we counted the cards…21 cards were filled out, number of students there—21…WOW!
Some had made a decision for salvation; others for assurance. The staff will continue to follow up next week.
It was wonderful, exciting, amazing and humbling to be involved in how God moved…it was anything but typical .
Editor’s comment:
We praise God for how He is working in these children’s lives. Please pray that many more children will attend the Released Time Bible Program and that God will open their hearts to His Word. We live in a world where, “This people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them” (Acts 28:27).
We are excited that God has been bringing healing to children. We anticipate that happening again and again!
