Advancing the Gospel Together: Reflections on the Giving Expo

Last week, we had the privilege of sharing the mission of Joy El at Faithful Give’s Giving Expo. Faithful Give is a fairly new faith-based organization. This year marked their second year of connecting “Kingdom Causes” to generous donors in the community. Joy El had the opportunity to participate for the second time as one of the 93 organizations involved, and for the first time, we joined them in their Giving Expo, which they hold towards the end of the fundraiser. Hundreds of people came and went from the afternoon into the evening to learn how these organizations impact the community of Lancaster as well as God’s Kingdom.

During the Expo, we spent time talking to various visitors who stopped by our table to ask about what we do, as well as connecting with other organizations. In the early evening, we heard a lot of commotion while we were standing at our table. Cheering and clapping filled the entire Convention Center, and intrigued, we wondered what all the celebration was about. When we asked a neighboring table, they responded that Faithful Give had reached the $1 million mark. Our looks of confusion quickly turned into excitement as we also began to celebrate at our table. The table next to us was also curious about what was happening, and we had the joy of turning around and passing the message on.

While it was wonderful to see so much money raised for the organizations involved, it was even more encouraging to witness the generosity that the Lord has placed in the hearts of those who gave.

Reflecting on the Expo as a whole, I’m reminded of what our Chief Advancement Officer said during the event. The goal of the Expo is not to compete with other organizations to see who can raise the most money or attract the most people to their table. Instead, it’s about coming together to advance the gospel and showcase God’s glory to the world.
