I have seen summer camps have a contagious influence on children. Campers encounter God in an amazing way and their lives are changed. The child leaves camp and impacts parents and siblings. The influence expands through the family and into the community.
On Friday night this happened again. God used a few children who have been deeply impacted by his Word and were set on fire for Him.
I received a message in our family chat. My younger daughter was eating at Mikie’s in Greencastle. She was sitting outside with a few other Joy El summer staff members, and she heard some familiar words in the parking lot: “And God said, I will be with you.”
She looked over and saw campers who had previously been at camp reciting the scripture verses they had memorized and acting out the motions with them. She said, “It was awesome and hilarious.” How often do you hear God speaking in the parking lot?
What she had heard was Monday’s memory verse from Exodus 3:11-12a: “But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?’ And God said, ‘I will be with you.’”
Now that is a great promise! To know that God is with us wherever we go. God‘s Word is so powerful. It transforms. It renews. It refreshes. It guides. Thank you for helping children encounter and memorize God’s Word. Please pray for them to continue to know that God is with them.
