Volunteers are so eager to share every time a child begins a relationship with Jesus, so we can rejoice together with the angels in heaven. While that is certainly more than enough reason to celebrate, I often ask, “How is God working?” when visiting a Bible Adventure (BA) program because I know that He is working and also to be sure to celebrate any life-change that is happening, regardless of how “insignificant” it may seem to others.
After presenting this question to a group of BA volunteers, I learned of a boy who was given a Bible for the first time this year in Bible Adventure. His Listener shared that his face lit up with excitement as she wrote his name on the inside cover and he realized it was his personal Bible to keep.
For the remainder of the year, each time he came to BA, this boy had his new Bible in hand. He eagerly searched for scriptures and followed along with the teacher as she taught the lessons. He was so excited to show his Listener that he could find the weekly verses and enjoyed reading them out loud to her.
She didn’t realize the joy it would bring this child by giving him his own Bible. She said that seeing his desire to read and memorize the Word is truly inspiring and nothing less than life-change.
