I never grow tired of the fact that informational meetings can be ministry. Each year, we host five informational meetings about the 4.12 Leadership Training Program—two for returning students and three for students who are considering applying for the program for the first time. During these meetings, students learn about the program, but they also hear testimonies about how God has used the program in alumni’s lives and how God is using current students through summer camp ministry opportunities.
Seventy-six parents and students attended the first informational meeting for this year’s returning students, which was held on June 27. They heard video testimonies from this year’s graduates and a live alumni testimony. They heard the benefits and value of the program. They also heard some teaching on content from the recently released book, Swim Lessons: Gospel-Shaped Personal Formation for a Drowning Generation.
“I really enjoyed being able to hear from alumni who have continued their ministry at camp and also the different stories and insights about my generation and others in it,” level four student Grace Akers shared after attending the meeting.
Some students began filling out their applications before even leaving the meeting. Other parents and students stayed long after the event, sharing with my 4.12 teammates and me how much God has been using the program in their lives.
Please pray for the upcoming informational meetings for potential students and their parents:
* Thursday, July 13
* Tuesday, July 18
* Thursday, July 27
All meetings take place from 6:15-7:15 PM at Joy El Camps and Retreats, a Christian Retreat Center in Greencastle, PA. RSVP to [email protected] or by calling the camp office at 717-369-4539.
Please pray with us that God will connect students with this program who will greatly benefit from the mission of the program, which is to intentionally equip students who are serious about their faith to know and serve Christ with excellence, leading others to do the same. If you or a young person you know is a possible fit for the program, please RSVP today.
