In Bible Adventure we allow the students to recite the same verses three weeks in a row so the verses are really memorized and so they can use them in life.
I taught the lesson on Jesus calming the Storm. The lesson verse was Psalm 120:1, “I call on the LORD in my distress and He answers me.” We read and reviewed the verse throughout the lesson. The following week I shared a story with the students of how I called on the LORD and He answered me. Repetition reinforces learning.
At the close of Bible Adventure on a rainy Friday we loaded the bus to return to school. The driver attempted to start the bus but to no avail. Forty plus students aren’t quiet. In my big voice I said, “Hey guys, the bus won’t start. I need you to get quiet so we can listen for when the bus starts. We need to pray. What was our verse? I call… (the students finished the verse). We repeated it. “I call on the LORD in my distress and He answers me.” We prayed, “God we are calling on you.” The bus started and we returned to school. Lesson learned and reinforced.
