By Nate Marshall, Director of the 4.12 Leadership Training Program
“There is no way I can do this.”
That is one of the first responses most of us give when doing something out of our comfort zone – and most times it’s a natural response, but not the place God wants us to stay. This is also often a first reaction (along with a few moments of shocked silence) from a 4.12 student that I ask to share their testimony in front of a group of their peers or at a retreat.
God often gives us ample opportunities to share with others what He has been doing in our lives. What an exciting opportunity! Psalm 66:16 says, “Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul.” It is a blessing to be able to do that.
One of my favorite things to see is watching 4.12 Leadership Training Program students overcome their fears. What generally happens after that initial reaction of hesitation and “there is no way I can do this” is the student stepping out in spite of their fear to share with others what God has done in their life! What a powerful and inspirational time.
At the Father-Son Retreat a few of weeks ago, Jason*, one of the young male students, was asked to share what God had been doing in his life. His initial response was the “shocked silence” and “there is no way I can do this”. When the time came for him to share that weekend, Jason shared so boldly about using the gifts God had given him for God’s glory. Jason blessed so many by sharing God’s work in his life!
God is using the stories, lessons, and courage of the 4.12 students to impact many others throughout the ministry!
