1 Corinthians 16:13 “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”
Our theme this year in Bible Adventure (BA) and Christians In Action (CIA) is Fearless Faith. The question or challenge we’ve been bringing before volunteers and students is “Are you ready to step out in Fearless Faith and see what God will do?” At a recent volunteer training I learned of a Bible Adventure student who is doing exactly that, he is stepping out!
Justin*, who attends a local public school, decided that rather than participate in games or play sports with his friends during recess, he was going to start a Bible Study. So, he asked others to help him and initially no one agreed, until he asked another BA student. Jarred*, said yes! Justin knew it had to be a “God thing” because Jarred had the same exact devotional book to use for the Bible Study that he was planning to use. Together, these two boys choose to give up recess a few times every week to lead this Bible Study, which now averages 6-8 attendees, who are not Bible Adventure students. In addition to sharing a devotion, and reading the Bible, Justin provides New Testament Bibles for anyone attending the study who doesn’t have a Bible. Justin said he keeps the Bible Study simple because some children don’t know as much as he and Jarred, yet.
When the volunteers in Bible Adventure shared that Justin and Jarred were leading a Bible Study at their school during recess, all the BA students stretched forth their hands and prayed for them. How exciting it is to see God raise up leaders among the children!
Justin is not only stepping out in Fearless Faith, but he is bringing others with him on the journey.
