As I consider the Mother Daughter Retreat at Joy El, I see the many ways that God worked. As a staff, we pray for guests to experience life-change through personal encounters with God.
God answers these prayers!
Mothers and daughters participated together in powerful times of worship and fellowship, being able to refresh and renew together. Toward the end of the Saturday night chapel session, the speaker made an invitation to respond to the gospel. Any mom or daughter who had not begun a relationship with Jesus, who wanted to make this decision could come and talk to a staff member or one of the speakers.
After the session, one mom came to the front to share she was only at this retreat because her friend had invited her. She confessed that until this point she did not understand that in order to spend eternity with Jesus she needed to be in relationship with Him. She had thought that if she did enough good things in her life she would be counted as a Christian. That Saturday night, after hearing the gospel, was the first time that she recognized her need for Jesus to forgive her sins. As she processed this, she said that she was not ready to make that decision right then and there…but promised she would follow up again in the morning. The next morning she excitedly shared with the speaker that she began a relationship with Jesus! Wow, praise the Lord!
I marvel at how one invitation from a friend to spend a weekend at Joy El changed the life of this woman forever. This is what we pray for, and we believe God will do. I believe her family will be impacted as well. Not only did this mom have a great weekend experience with her daughter, but her eternity is forever changed.
We invite you to join us for a future retreat!
