Prayers for Christian Camps
By Jeanette Biesecker, Director of Ministry Advancement
Our friend Dan Meredith of SDG Music Ministry has been significantly involved in the ministry work here at Joy El for a long time. He’s served in recent years as a speaker for our Christian camps and retreats. Dan recently shared the following message with his supporters and we’re passing this along because we’re thankful for the longtime friendship and support of Dan and his wife Kay.
“Dear SDG Prayer Team,
I’ve been going through the huge pile of T-Shirts that I’ve collected over the years. I have quite a pile from my involvement at Camp Joy El. I took photos of each because I can’t keep them all. I was speaker for each of these years except 2015 when Kay and I were “camp grandparents.” I also discovered that I didn’t have shirts for 2002, 04 and 05 or the years in the 1990s. (Not sure they did t-shirts then.)
I’m sharing this with you for a few reasons. First is to praise God for all the opportunities I’ve had to share with young people over the years. Second, to ask you to pray for Camp Joy El and other Christian camps seeking to open up this summer in these trying times. Summer camp is an important time in the life of our young people. [See a few reasons why.] It would be a shame for anyone to miss that opportunity this year.
Camp Joy El is making excellent adaptations this summer to accommodate the current health risks. See their website for more information. Kay and I strongly encourage you to consider sending your young people to Camp Joy El. We have seen firsthand through our involvement there that your kids will have a great, Bible based and deeply spiritual experience with lots of great activities.
Blessings,
Dan and Kay”
Thanks, Dan and Kay, for your prayers and support. At Joy El we see and know the power of camp in the life of child and seek to help parents understand its value as well. If you haven’t signed your child up for camp yet this summer because you’re just not sure it’s “safe enough,” give us a call at 717-369-4539. Let us share with you the precautions we’re taking as well as the value that a week at camp will have for your child.
