Lukundo Furnish
Executive Assistant
Lukundo’s journey with Joyel began with a friend’s recommendation to apply for a summer position in 2025. While she knew of Joyel through her nieces, she never imagined herself working there. Between jobs at the time, Lukundo was grateful when staff welcomed her aboard as a Food Service Assistant for the summer. What started as a temporary opportunity blossomed into a full-time role. Serving alongside a dedicated team and contributing to Joyel’s vision of bringing young people to Christ truly inspires and motivates Lukundo in her work.
Lukundo and her husband, Jarrett, live in Hagerstown, Maryland. They met in Zambia, Africa, where Lukundo is from, and have since made their home in New Jersey and Pennsylvania before settling in Maryland. In her free time, Lukundo enjoys baking, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Lukundo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Zambia. Her career has primarily been in education as a teacher, where she discovered her passion for discipleship. She describes discipleship as the best part of her teaching career, saying that deep, meaningful relationships centered on Jesus never get old for her.
Galatians 2:20 holds special significance for Lukundo: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” This Scripture still gives her goosebumps. She is continually inspired by Jesus’ incredible love—that He would give Himself up in the way that He did for her sake. What great love!
