Sharing his testimony at a Good Friday service was Ryan’s first connection to Joy El – another staff member reached out to him. She was struck by his story – how he grew up in a broken home, had a big passion for kids, and his desire and search for a specific purpose.

Ryan attended Harrisburg Area Community College, where he studied Criminal Justice. He went on to be a Correction Officer for 7 years.

Ryan came to Christ through camp and community outreach; compassion and love from others led him toward God’s love. This is why he is so excited to offer the same love shared with him with CIA students.

Ryan lives with a roommate and his puppy in Fayetville, PA. He enjoys all things outdoors, including ultimate frisbee and hiking, and has a goal to visit all the National Parks!

A favorite scripture of Ryan’s is Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Having suffered much tragedy in his life, this verse is an incredible reminder that God is almighty and will never turn His back on us.
