Crystal Cheshire
Bible Adventure/CIA Equipping Coordinator
Joining the staff as an Equipping Coordinator at Joy El is a new adventure for me but working with children is not. For the last 30+ years, I’ve volunteered with children in Sunday School, Children’s Church, Royal Rangers, Girls Ministries, and as a volunteer in our school system for since 1999 when my oldest son started kindergarten. While helping at one of the ministries at church, a young girl asked who Jesus, Adam, and Eve are. I was filled with disbelief and sadness that she did not know. When asked to become a volunteer for a Bible Adventure class, these feelings became the determining factor, to be sure as many children as possible may know who Jesus is!
Raising three sons with my husband has kept us busy. We’ve enjoyed vacations together, fishing trips, ballgames, races, hiking and bike riding on the C&O Canal. My favorite activity with them was camping and cooking over the open fire.
Two verses sum up why I have chosen to join the ministry of Joy El. I believe children need to know God was speaking about them when these words were spoken:
Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Genesis 1:31
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good…
